Interrogation Pictures Being Released

Interrogation.  A necessary evil or inhumane?  And just what purpose does it really serve?  Are these the the questions being asked by the new interrogation pictures being released?  No, it’s all in the name of “transparency”.  What purpose will these photos really serve?  Will they spark terrorist attacks?  But the most important question is this, does the American public need to see them?  The answer is easy.  No, you do not need to see them.  Nor do you even have the right to see them.  Why?  Because in general, the normal every day American doesn’t like war or anything associated with it.  The public thinks war is ugly, evil, and does not want to go to war.  So why do you want to see images of something you would rather not exist and aren’t ever capable of doing?  Why must you criticize actions made during a time of war?  Do you know what it is like to be faced with imminent death, or knowing that information in a mans head could save lives?  Of course not, you don’t want to be presented with those situations.  Because in the ever famous words of Jack Nicholson, you can’t handle the truth.

You are right about war, it is ugly and evil.  Yet there are men and women willing to make war their lives, willing to suffer the ugly and evil so that you don’t have to.  Why do you need to know what they do?  Why do you insist upon knowing what measures they take as they try to defend your freedom and others’ lives?  As a member of the armed forces, I am willing and ready to do any sort of violence for the sake of the innocent and peaceful.  I do not know what measures I would take should I think a man holds the key to saving lives.  I am not ashamed of that, nor am I ashamed of the measures taken by those who have stood in that place.

What I am ashamed of is our countries preoccupation with the so called ‘wrongs’ done to those whom we are trying to defend our country from.  If a man enters your home, intent on killing those whom live there, you would stop them.  If you met that same man before he attempted to do so, and had reason to believe he would try to kill your family, would you not try to stop him?  Of course you would.  If I knew a man was planning to kill my family, or anyone else’s family, I would not hesitate to stop him.  Just the same, when plans are uncovered of an attack on our country, or anyone we have sworn to protect, we will go to great lengths to stop it.  There is no need to inform the innocents of just how we went about defending them.  They’re only right is to lay down at night, sound and safe.

You may cry injustice, or cover up, or any number of things.  But why are you so concerned what we do to protect you.  Are you so pompous and selfish that you want your freedom to come at no price?  What of the freedom of those who enjoy none?  Why are you not crying out at their injustice?  Why do you not rally for the cause of the helpless?  Shed not a tear for those who have chosen to relinquish their freedom, but for the defenseless whom have never had it.
